Public status pages

Creating a public status page

Create a WebCheck status page, choose its public components and publish a clear view of service health.

A WebCheck public status page shares selected service health with visitors without giving them access to the private monitoring dashboard. A new page is enabled immediately when it is created, so treat creation as publication unless you turn it off straight away.

Create the page

Open the site detail page, expand Public status pages and create a page with a name and title. WebCheck initially adds a component for each enabled target. You can add an introductory message and change the selected components in the page settings. The page is public as soon as it is created.

Choose meaningful components

Use target labels that make sense to visitors, such as Website, API, Checkout or Authentication. Each component is based on one monitored target and its checks. The target label is used as the component name, so do not use a private hostname, secret or internal-only label for a target that will appear publicly.

Use maintenance mode honestly

When planned work is taking place, use the page maintenance controls and provide a clear message. Do not represent an unverified or manually asserted state as proof that every service is healthy.

Publish and review

If you need to prepare the page before sharing it, turn off Publish this status page in its settings, then review the public URL and selected components before enabling it. Check the displayed state, incident history, branding and notes from a separate browser session. Update the page when the public service structure changes.
