Public status pages

How to set up a custom status-page domain

Point a subdomain such as status.example.com at WebCheck and publish your public status page there.

You can publish a WebCheck status page on a subdomain you control, such as status.example.com. The setup uses a DNS CNAME record and does not require you to move your main website.

1. Choose a subdomain

Use a dedicated subdomain such as status.example.com, uptime.example.com or status.yourcompany.com. A subdomain is usually the simplest option because it leaves your main website and root domain untouched.

2. Add a DNS CNAME

In your DNS provider, create a CNAME for the subdomain and point it to webcheck.notabis.com. If you use Cloudflare, set this hostname to DNS only (grey cloud). WebCheck verifies the CNAME directly; a proxied record hides the CNAME and verification will fail.

  • Type: CNAME
  • Name/host: status (for status.example.com)
  • Target/value: webcheck.notabis.com
  • Do not add https:// or a path to the target

3. Enter the domain in WebCheck

Open your site in WebCheck, expand Public status pages, enter the complete hostname in Custom domain and save the page. Use status.example.com, not the full https:// URL.

4. Authenticate the domain

After DNS verification succeeds, select Authenticate website. WebCheck queues HTTPS and custom-domain setup in the background. Check the status beside the button and wait until it says Website authenticated and ready before opening https://status.example.com. If the browser still shows a certificate warning or the wrong site, stop and check the provisioning status; do not bypass the warning.

Before sharing the page

A new status page is enabled as soon as you create it. Anyone with its public link or custom domain can view the components you selected, so turn off Publish this status page while you are still preparing it. Keep the custom hostname DNS-only; proxying is not part of the supported verification setup.
